CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

The natural healing force in each one of us is the greatest force in getting well.

~ Hippocrates

Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle form of bodywork that supports the body's natural healing mechanisms by working with the craniosacral system — this system is closely related to nervous system health, and is composed of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. The body’s craniosacral system moves in distinct rhythms that are different than the breath and heartbeat. CST uses gentle holds and stretches to produce profound relief from a variety of conditions. We attune to the subtle rhythms of your body to detect potential restrictions and imbalances, then use an extremely light touch to stretch, decompress, and re-balance this system, which brings balance back to the entire body. CST can target conditions within the physical body and nervous system, and is highly effective for brain health and overall functioning.

CST can address a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Chronic stress

  • Chronic pain

  • Migraines

  • Birth Trauma

  • Bodily trauma

  • Concussions

  • Anxiety, Depression

  • Autism, ADHD

  • Insomnia and more.

A typical session lasts between 60 and 90 minutes. During your session, clients lie on a massage table fully clothed. Your expert practitioner then places their hands on specific places along the body, including the skull, face, spine, and sacrum, listening to the craniosacral rhythm and making subtle adjustments with the hands. These gentle manipulations target soft tissues such as fascia and joints, and release restrictions in the system, improving the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, and restoring balance to the central nervous system.

CST is complementary to many other medicine programs and is often integrated alongside other treatment modalities.
