ABOUT MARIYA
Mariya Javed-Payne
(pronounced Mah-ree-ah, or you can call me Mari)
I am a certified breathwork practitioner, shamanic practitioner, energy healer, and intuitive. I am a poet and a weaver. My gift is in creating and holding spaces that honor you and the sacredness of life with depth, tenacity, and fierce love. I have spent almost two decades doing my own shadow work, surviving significant ruptures and traumas, as well as an eight year battle with opiate and crack-cocaine addiction that left me utterly fragmented, near-death many times, and in periods of psychosis. After getting sober and starting to pick up the pieces in 2010, I found myself debilitated by a plethora of complex and mysterious chronic illnesses, which I am still healing today. Through these many dark nights of the soul and body, paired with continuous training and education, I have emerged with wisdom and knowledge on how to heal trauma, how to trust and reclaim relationship with the body, and how to listen to and embody soul.
Life has taught me about courage, about sovereignty, and how to step into our innate power. For most of my life I have felt like a series of walking contradictions and polarities, overwhelmed by the intensities that I carry. As I forge ahead, I am learning how to unite these opposing forces within and accept the beauty of consciousness that grows from the interplay of dark and light, and to be fearless about it. Having lived through many outworn versions of myself, my greatest goal is to walk in integrity and kindness in all that I do and help others arrive home to the knowing that wholeness is already here inside you.
I am also a somatic psychotherapist specializing in healing complex trauma, addiction, generational and racial trauma, and oppression in the body, with 14 years of experience. I offer embodied psychotherapy, psychedelic assisted therapy, consulting, and educational trainings through my other practice, Awaken Consulting Services.

PHILOSOPHY
My philsophies are based from animism, mysticism, shamanism, Amazonian medicine traditions, as well as embodiment practices stemming from somatic psychotherapy, mindfulness, breathwork, and meditation. I see everything as energy and frequencies and have a knack for moving stuck energies, entities, and dysregulation, bringing people and places back into harmony. With my formal education and training as a trauma therapist, I am also fond of blending science with spirit and hope to be a bridge between these two worlds.
My worldview is that all life is our kin. I believe we choose our paths, our families, and circumstances, and use these foundations for our greater expansion. I believe we are in a time of Great Remembering and returning to our truth as the guardians of Earth. I believe that anything can be transformed by the light, and that love and attunement is the greatest medicine we carry inside of us. Hope and vitality is a powerful and innate driving force that lives within each living thing, always reaching for more life. I believe we are always creating something-either chaos or something that can bear more life. When we heal our wounds, we naturally help all things around us heal. I also know and believe that nature is the greatest teacher and that living in balance with her allows us to thrive.
Most of all, I believe in healing as an act of creativity, of beauty, of metamorphosis and transformation, and to extend this act with every breath and every beat.
